Walter Cadden
1875–1896
The youngest of the seven — a birth and a death registration, found at last, confirm family tradition almost exactly, though neither names his father.

Walter Cadden was the youngest of William and Christina’s seven children, born in New South Wales in 1875. His birth was not registered until twenty years later, at Sydney in 1895 — a late registration presumably made for some practical purpose in adulthood, though what it was is not recorded.1 He died the following year, on 4 March 1896, at about twenty-one; his death was registered at St Leonards, and he was buried at Rookwood General Cemetery, Sydney.2
Neither record names his father. Whether that reflects an ordinary gap in a late-registered birth and a death reported by someone outside the immediate family, or points to something else in Walter’s own story, is not yet known — it remains an open question for further research.
